An ambitious and forward-thinking business based in Lancaster is seeking a Head of Finance to lead, stabilise, and transform its finance function during a pivotal stage of growth. This critical leadership appointment will suit a commercially astute, hands-on finance leader who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys delivering both strategic and operational impact.

The Role

Reporting directly to the MD, the Head of Finance will play a central role in shaping the financial strategy and day-to-day operations of the business. You will:

  • Lead the Finance Function: Provide day-to-day leadership across the team, ensuring stability, clarity, and continuity.
  • Own Key Financial Operations: Oversee reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
  • Deliver Process Improvements: Assess current finance processes and team structures to identify and deliver quick wins, efficiencies, and long-term improvements.
  • Simplify Complexity: Streamline and standardise workflows, replacing overly complex spreadsheets with robust, scalable systems.
  • Drive Essential Projects: Quickly stabilise the team, restore delivery cadence, and support the business in achieving its financial and operational goals.
  • Partner with Leadership: Act as a trusted advisor to the SLT providing sound judgement, commercial insight, and strategic recommendations.

About You

We are looking for a finance leader who combines technical excellence with strategic acumen and the leadership presence to inspire confidence. You will bring:

  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent.
  • Significant post-qualified experience, including time in a senior finance leadership role.
  • Proven ability to operate in fast-paced, change-oriented, or scale-up environments.
  • Strong technical finance expertise, coupled with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
  • A track record of improving processes, controls, and reporting systems without slowing business pace.
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to provide clarity, structure, and accountability across the function.
  • A calm, proactive approach that brings stability and reassurance during periods of change.
