About the role
A well established Service Company are looking to recruit a tenacious, driven Accounts Assistant to work on a full-time, permanent basis from their head office in Preston, Lancashire. Reporting directly into the FD, you will have the ability to problem solve, communicate at all levels and good attitude is Key! This a lean, friendly team and you will work along side their management accountants and support other members of the Finance function.
The Role:
- Processing of all received invoices for payment, following the internal processes.
- Administering the financial systems that record invoices/payments into Excel, SAGE, and structuring payments into the BACs Banking system
- Ensuring that all payments are recorded accurately and in a timely manner, in line with internal financial procedures
- Responding to, promptly payment enquiries from all suppliers, sub-contractors, agencies/locums and employed staff. This will involve reviewing information system (EPR), to validate and rectify any errors
- Production of a weekly/ monthly payment list ensuring all payments are fully authorised and validated with supplier statements
- Liaising with Human Resources and Payroll to ensure all employed staff are paid appropriately and on time, Facilitating any errors in payment
- Day to day running of the Purchase Ledger including processing invoices, coding and matching against purchase orders and obtaining the relevant approval
- Preparing and processing payment runs. Cash/bank postings are done daily and monthly bank reconciliations and maintaining petty cash
- Communicating with internal and external customers and suppliers
- Assisting with month end reporting
- Maintaining the payroll system - DESIRABLE NOT ESSENTIAL
- Deal with customers queries, cash allocation and credit control as well as general administrative duties such as answering the telephone, filing, office duties and stationery purchases.
What do you need as an Accounts Assistant
As a strong Accounts Assistant you will demonstrate the ability to build strong sustainable relationships quickly.
- Proficient user of MS Excel
- A self-starter and be able to work effectively as both part of a team and independently, requiring limited supervision
