Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience)

My client is a well-established construction company based in Carlisle, and they are looking for a confident and detail-focused Accounts Assistant to support their busy finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in finance who's looking to develop their skills within a thriving and supportive environment.
What you'll be doing:
- Accurately process supplier invoices, ensuring timely data entry and coding
- Match invoices to purchase orders and investigate discrepancies where needed
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve payment and invoice queries promptly
- Process subcontractor applications in line with internal approval workflows
- Review and submit on-site labour timesheets for sign-off
- Prepare and process weekly payments to labour-only subcontractors
- Assist with weekly and/or monthly payroll processing
- Set up and maintain accurate records of suppliers and subcontractors in our Construction Manager system
- Monitor and reconcile staff expenses and company credit card usage
- Manage the internal approval process for all supplier invoices
- Keep the Accounts Manual up to date with current procedures
- Reconcile supplier statements and follow up on outstanding balances
- Provide general administrative support including document filing and archiving
What we're looking for:
- Experience in a similar accounts role, ideally within the construction sector
- Familiarity with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) is preferred, but not essential
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
- Comfortable using accounting and construction-related systems (experience with Construction Manager is an advantage)
- A proactive, organised, and adaptable approach to work
