Salary : £30k

Our client, a well-established business, is seeking a skilled Accounts Assistant to join their finance team in Fleetwood. The Role
As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the finance function across sales ledger, purchase ledger, and general ledger activities. You will ensure the accuracy of financial data, maintain organised records, and contribute to the smooth running of month-end processes.

Key Responsibilities
Sales Ledger:

  • Preparation and validation of distributor invoices

  • Processing bank transfers and payment allocations

  • Weekly Aged Debtors reporting and chasing overdue accounts

  • Calculating commissions and liaising with external contacts

  • Reconciliation of distributor accounts

  • Ownership of day-to-day and month-end AR processes

Purchase Ledger:

  • Checking purchase orders for correct GL codes

  • Matching invoices against receipts

  • Entering and validating supplier invoices

  • Processing fixed assets and maintaining the asset register

  • BACS and cheque payments, foreign currency transfers, and contras

  • Supplier account reconciliations

General Ledger:

  • Journal postings

  • Monthly review and reconciliation of account balances to the trial balance

  • Variance analysis, accruals, and prepayments

Other Duties:

  • VAT submissions

  • Handling ad hoc queries

  • General administration tasks

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum AAT Level 2 (or equivalent qualification in finance/accountancy)

  • At least 2 years' experience in a similar accounting role

  • Good standard of education, including GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in Maths and English

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel; Oracle E-Business Suite experience advantageous

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to prioritise workload, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
