Group Financial Controller

Location: Preston area (Hybrid - 2 days per week in office)
Salary: £120,000 depending on experience, plus bonus and benefits

About the Role

We are exclusively partnering with a fast-growing, private equity-backed business that is a leader in their sector. Due to continued expansion across the UK and internationally, they are creating a brand-new Group Financial Controller position reporting directly to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all group finance activities across multiple entities, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, consolidating results across subsidiaries and producing both statutory and management accounts
  • Coordinate and lead the annual group audit process, acting as primary liaison with external auditors and ensuring all audit requirements are met across each entity
  • Oversee group cash management and treasury operations, including monitoring and forecasting cashflow requirements and managing intercompany funding structures
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax obligations (corporate tax, VAT, PAYE) and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions; manage relationships with tax advisors and regulatory authorities
  • Strengthen and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard group assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and legislation
  • Provide strategic financial insight and analysis to the Board and senior leadership team, supporting decision-making on investments, acquisitions, and overall group strategy
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and reporting tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
  • Serve as key point of contact for banks, auditors, tax advisors, and other external stakeholders whilst building strong cross-functional relationships internally

Essential Requirements

  • ACA qualified accountant from a top 10 practice
  • Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in industry
  • Strong technical financial accounting knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrable experience in tax, treasury, and compliance matters
  • Experience managing multi-entity group consolidations and reporting
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
